I am so excited to share my recent project that I created at Think Tank Training Centre for my Advanced Term!
This project is a medieval house based on concept art from Junhyuk Yoon - https://www.artstation.com/artwork/q9dNXy
The four months it took to create this environment from scratch were a complete emotional and learning rollercoaster. I used Maya to build the models, experimented with MASH for the roof tiles, and utilized Speedtree to create the grape plants and foliage. I also used ZBrush to add details to the stone and Substance Painter to bring the clay models to life! Through this process, I learned how to use VRay Proxy, referencing files, and instancing to reduce both render time and file size. The mountains and sky in the background consist of several images that I edited together in Photoshop, aiming for a believable result.
This project would not have been possible without the guidance of my mentor. A huge shoutout to Patrick Kilcher—be sure to check out his work here: https://www.patrick-kilcher.com/work.
Thank you so much to Houra Ershad - https://houra.artstation.com/, a global mentor at Think Tank, for introducing me to VRay Proxy and the possibilities it unlocked!
